Germany 1924. Middle aged Dr. Immanuel Rath could be a stuffy literature prof at a boys' college. Most of his students do not very like him, typically ridiculing him by causing him uncomplimentary anonymous notes and drawings. Dr. Rath learns that a lot of of his boys typically frequent a cabaret referred to as the blue devil, that he believes is corrupting their plastic young minds. He heads to the blue devil himself to catch the boys within the act, shame them into not going once more, however conjointly to raise the headlining entertainer, anglophone Lola Lola, to stop and refrain acting her show. Over many visits, Rath is ready to catch the boys, however he himself starts to fall for Lola, and she or he apparently with him. His infatuation together with her threatens his teaching career. Their relationship lands up not being what either pictured, the question being however they'll each affect their disintegrating relationship and therefore the reasons behind that disintegration.
